XB LT

START YOUR ADVENTURE

The XB LT is your perfect companion for both your first cross-country flights and ambitious hike-and-fly missions. Inspired by the high-performance X2C LT, this lightweight intermediate wing offers the ideal blend of minimal weight and robust construction. With only 2.85 kg (size 75) and a compact pack size, it’s built for adventure without compromise. Developed by Alex Höllwarth, the XB LT delivers ZOOM’s signature direct and precise handling.

Solid,

Light

& reliable

The XB LT stands out with its simplicity in handling and impressive in-flight stability for a lightweight intermediate wing. Designed by Alex Höllwarth, this glider is easy to fly yet highly versatile, covering a wide range of applications.

It features a carefully engineered combination of line and canopy materials, providing the necessary robustness for high-alpine use while maintaining low weight and a compact packing size.

With extremely forgiving behavior in extreme flight situations, the XB LT sets new safety benchmarks in the light-intermediate class. Inspired by the successful X2C LT, it inherits the same precise yet easy brake response. The XB LT is the ideal wing for hike-and-fly adventures, extended thermaling, and cross-country exploration.

SUITABILITY

TARGET[-]GROUP

he ZOOM XB LT is designed for pilots who seek mountain adventures without compromising on performance, passive safety, stability, or thermal efficiency.

Its well balanced handling and performance make it a strong candidate for aspiring XC pilots. The wing is particularly well suited for hike-and-fly and vol biv enthusiasts who prefer to fly outside of crowded flying areas. It's also a reliable choice for pilots making their first longer XC flights.

PERFORMANCE & SAFETY

ASPECTS

FLIGHT CHARACTERISTICS

UNIVERSALLY CAPABLE

Thanks to its lightweight construction, launching the XB LT is nearly effortless. Its optimized leading edge ensures rapid and dependable inflation even in technical takeoff zones. The wing stabilizes easily overhead, and its low lift-off speed adds to the ease of launch.

In the air, the XB LT impresses with its characteristically direct and intuitive ZOOM handling, providing excellent feedback from the canopy. This responsiveness allows pilots to center and climb efficiently in thermals. Even in turbulent air, the XB LT maintains a high degree of canopy stability, giving the pilot confidence and freedom for tactical decisions.

When accelerated, the wing remains remarkably calm. The BC control system allows for efficient and confident flying in active air. All descent techniques such as big ears, B-stall, etc. are simple and effective to execute. All in all, the XB LT is a highly capable glider for thermaling, XC flying, and extended hike-and-fly missions.

Due to the elaborated light wing design of the XA LT, the launching ability has been improved significantly. The wing needs very little input to fill and rise but don´t tends to shoot forward due to its pitch stable wingdesign. This ability gives the pilot enough time to control the XA LT even in demanding launch sites. Low possible take off speeds and therefore short take off distances are another highlight of the lightwing design of the XA LT. The thermal handling, which is already valued from pilots on the XA, could be redefined even further on the XA LT. During flying in thermals the XA LT can be flown with a pleasant low but precise brake pressure, which progressively and safety wise increases throughout its range. Finally, all required training manoeuvres as big ears, B-Stall etc. can be safely flown with the XA LT.

SAFETY

LIGHT AND SAFE

Alex Höllwarth placed special focus on passive safety and well-balanced behavior in extreme flight scenarios. As a result, the XB LT ranks at the safer end of the EN-B class.

Its optimized launch characteristics support confident takeoffs even in demanding terrain. In the air, the wing's forgiving handling remains stable even in turbulent conditions.

Another safety highlight is the clearly defined brake pressure as the pilot approaches slow flight or the stall point making top-landings and precision approaches in tight or technical landings both safe and manageable.

TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Shark Nose - optimized airflow at the leading edge
  • Rigidfoil - wrikle free wing at leading edge
  • Triple 3D Shaping - Reduced ballooning and wrikle free wing at leading edge
  • LE (Leading edge) Miniribs - made of internal stitch technique – enhances the wrinkle free finish of the leading edge. Results in top glide performance especially during accelerated flying.
  • TE (Trailing edge) Miniribs - made of internal stitch technique – enhances static stability on the trailing edge of the wing.
  • Dirthole and Dirtchannel - small openings in the profile ribs at the trailing edge let sand and debris inside the glider move itself to the wingtip, where it slowly works its way out.
  • BC- Control system allows pilots to control the angle of attack of through the speed range without deforming the airfoil's camber

  • Airflow simulation software by Hannes Papesh – performance increase due to optimized cell design and wing canopy finish
